WFP Leaders Endorse Brian Kavanagh in Bid for State Senate

NEW YORK, NY -- The New York City Advisory Council of the Working Families Party voted to endorse Assemblymember Brian Kavanagh in his bid for State Senate to replace Daniel Squadron who retired August 11th.

“The Working Families Party is proud to support Brian Kavanagh in the 26th Senate District special election. He has been a champion of progressive values in the Assembly, leading the charge on government accountability and campaign finance reform. Brian has proven himself to be one of the most effective legislators in Albany, and we need someone who knows how to get things done in the Senate and will fight to grow the progressive majority we need to resist the Trump Republican agenda,” said Bob Master, Co-Chair of the New York Working Families Party.

"I am proud to have earned the endorsement of the Working Families Party, a powerful coalition of progressive organizations and advocates with whom I've worked closely for more than a decade,” said Kavanagh. “WFP has been an important partner in the fight for affordable housing, good paying jobs, clean and fair elections, quality public schools, and so many other causes. WFP's support will help make it clear that I'm the progressive Democratic choice to represent the diverse Lower Manhattan and Brooklyn communities of the 26th Senate District."

The Working Families Party is a grassroots political organization that fights for economic and racial justice, wins meaningful policy changes to improve the lives of everyday Americans, and recruits, trains and elects the next generation of progressive leaders to office.
